Brussels, 8th October 2024

The Dicastery of Laity and Family Life have published a video to mark thirty years since the first World Meeting of Families. Produced in collaboration with Vatican News and Vatican Media, the moving mini-documentary features footage from the international meetings held since 1994, including speeches by Pope John Paul II, Pope Benedict XVI, and Pope Francis. The next World Meeting of Families is scheduled for 2028.
FAFCE President Vincenzo Bassi, Honorary President Antoine Renard, and members of the FAFCE team in Brussels participated in the last World Meeting of Families in 2022. Earlier in that year FAFCE’s Spring Board Resolution was titled Families and family associations are builders of peace. It recalled that “the family has always been the place where freedom, democracy and solidarity were preserved in times of war and totalitarianism. Mothers and fathers, beyond their nationalities, do not want war. The family is the school of peace…FAFCE recalls that to work for the family is to work for peace and reiterates its commitment to be a tool of peace.”
FAFCE is grateful to be participating at the Jubilee for Families, Children, Grandparents and the Elderly in May-June 2025. The events, forming part of the Jubilee Year, will include a conference at Lumsa University, entitled The Family Global Compact and the international network of family associations, which will be co-organised by FAFCE. It will focus on intergenerational solidarity, the demographic winter, and the role of networks of families. You can access the official program here.
