Today FAFCE, the European Federation of Catholic Family Associations, and its Members launch an EU wide campaign calling for family friendly EU policies ahead of the European Elections. The campaign Vote for Family 2014 will be run in all EU Members States, and aims at encouraging candidates for the European Elections to promote family friendly policies if elected. Candidates will be invited to sign the Vote for Family Manifesto and their names will be published on 15 May, the International Day of the Family.

A website dedicated to the campaign is launched today: www.voteforfamily2014.eu. It presents FAFCE’s Elections manifesto in all EU languages.

video presents the campaign in a nutshell.

All families can participate in this campaign. Either directly, by using the campaign tools and take an active part in the campaign, or indirectly through family associations and organisations, contacting the candidates in their constituency and asking them to sign the manifesto.

A campaign for all! FAFCE offers this campaign to its member organisations and also to other organisations and associations who wish to participate.

The Manifesto includes 12 points and is based on international and European rights instruments. It invites future Members of the European Parliament to acknowledge the complementarity of woman and man, define, respect and promote the institution of marriage, human dignity, the role of parents, the first and foremost educators of their children, consider the family as a subject of rights, promote “Family mainstreaming” and listen to the voices of families, recognize the value of informal work, promote balance between family life and professional life, including longer Maternity leave, put the economy at the service of the person and the family and strive for dignified work, which is necessary for every family

After the elections elected candidates who signed the manifesto will be contacted, both at the national and European level, to follow up on their commitment to family friendly policies and offer concrete proposals on what they can do as a Member of the European Parliament.
